Child Abuse Prevention Month of OctoberPublished on October 12, 2020
During October, we raise awareness about the important role that individuals and communities play in supporting vulnerable children, youth, and families.
Our government is redesigning the child welfare system, with a focus on strengthening families and communities through prevention, early intervention and seeking more permanent homes for children and youth in care when they cannot stay in their own homes or communities.
We are committed to addressing the systemic issues in our child welfare system, so all children are safe, get the quality of care they deserve, and have the opportunity to flourish.
We know the COVID-19 pandemic has made things harder for Ontario families, which is why it is more critical than ever that we make sure our friends, loved ones, and neighbours know what resources are available if they need them.
In Ontario, we all share a responsibility to protect children from harm. If anyone suspects abuse or neglect, they can find the phone numbers for Ontario’s societies at www.ontario.ca/stopchildabuse or, where available, by dialing 411.
