Father's Day Weekend Fishing

Published on June 18, 2020

This Father’s Day weekend (June 20-21), families can enjoy free fishing as a low-risk way to spend quality time together outdoors.

Although we are making progress, COVID-19 is still a risk that we must guard against. We’re counting on people to be responsible and continue to follow all of the public health measures including physical distancing rules to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Fishing and hunting remain open in Ontario, with all rules and regulations in effect. Conservation Officers continue to patrol and protect our natural resources during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Before stepping outside, all Ontario residents are reminded to:

  • Check for local restrictions on outdoor areas
  • Practise physical distancing by keeping at least two metres from others outside your social circle.
  • Do not gather in groups greater than 10 while hiking, fishing, or hunting

Our government has doubled the number of free fishing events to also include the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day weekends. This is in addition to free fishing events on the Family Day weekend in February and Family Fishing Week from July 4 to 12, 2020.
