On Monday, June 22 Greg Rickford; MPP for Kenora–Rainy River, spoke with Northwestern Tourism Operators to discuss COVID-19 and its effect on tourism operators.
MPP Rickford recognized the extraordinary contribution of tourism operators to the economy of Northwestern Ontario and thanked them for the resilience they are continuing to show in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The group and MPP Rickford had a productive and meaningful conversation about the hard-hitting impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the tourism sector in the riding. They discussed tourism operators’ ongoing efforts to attract Canadian business, the implications of re-opening of the Canada-US border, and the great efforts operators are taking in protecting their guests and public health. The group looked forward to continuing today’s discussion and to work towards meaningful solutions for the tourism sector.
COVID-19 is an ongoing situation, and MPP Rickford will continue to work closely with all sectors and businesses affected to balance the health and economic impacts in Kenora–Rainy River.
